What is Laser Resurfacing?
Laser resurfacing is an advanced cosmetic treatment provided by accredited plastic surgeon, Dr Terrence Scamp. It uses Erbium-Yag laser, which emits a specific light wavelength absorbed by water in skin cells. This process vaporises the cells, effectively addressing wrinkles, sun damage, and other skin concerns, while also promoting skin rejuvenation and skin tightening. This laser stimulates the body’s natural healing process by creating heat that encourages the replacement of damaged cells with fresh, healthy skin.
It’s important to understand that any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, we recommend booking in a consultation with Dr Terrence Scamp.
Who Is An Ideal Candidate?
If patients are looking to improve skin affected by time laser skin resurfacing may be an option. During an initial consultation with Dr Scamp, he will evaluate the patient’s skin and discuss whether laser resurfacing is a suitable treatment for the patient’s specific needs.
What To Expect After the Laser Treatment?
After the procedure, the treated areas will be covered with either a tape-like dressing or ointment, depending on their location. The procedure promotes the regeneration of healthy tissue, stimulating the production of elastin and collagen, which enhances lubrication and supports urinary function. Patients can expect the healing process to be complete within 7 to 10 days.
Some redness (or a pink hue) is normal and may persist for 1 to 6 months. Once the initial healing is complete (after 7 to 10 days), patients can resume wearing makeup.
Please keep in mind that the patient’s skin will be particularly sensitive to the sun after treatment, so it’s essential to always wear a suitable sunblock to protect skin.
